Luminous Ground specializes in landscapes which unite the natural environment and architecture. Luminous Ground works closely with clients to create high-quality landscapes. A high-quality landscape is one that is functional and healthy for people and other species, and can also be fun, creative, elegant, and durable.
About the Landscape Designer
Mary C. Edwards is a tenth-generation Texan born and raised in Houston. She has farming family members in Texas and Mississippi, and she credits her childhood rambles in the fields, gardens, and forests of her ancestors for her love of landscape.
In landscape design, she combines two great interests: biology and architecture. Mary holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of Houston. She also holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Houston. She has previously worked in a plant nursery, a plant genetics lab at Rice University, and a Houston-based landscape architecture firm.
Although she is very familiar with the Gulf Coast region, and appreciates even the wet heat, the clay soil and the flocks of grackles, Mary has traveled worldwide absorbing the influences on landscape. She has participated in landscape projects in Germany, Spain, and Turkey. Currently she volunteers through the Harris County Extension Center and for various nonprofits. She is a member and Certified Landscape Professional of Texas Nursery and Landscape Association.
