Two lots adjacent to the Houston Zen Center were transformed into a parking area with a garden for the community's use. Gravel and porous pavers planted with buffalo grass form a rain-permeable parking surface. All plants and trees in the parking garden are either regional natives or fruit producers (or both). A courtyard between the community buildings became a serene space for gathering or contemplation. It features a sugar kettle fountain and the shade of river birches growing in gravel.
