A Japanese-influenced Native Plant Landscape in the Heights

Although the aesthetic of this backyard landscape says “Japan”, the majority of the plants are East Texas woodland natives. Mondo grass which was recycled from the site and an Alphonse Karr bamboo privacy hedge are the exceptions. A dry creek bed with boulder fountain and a stone path wind around two hills, providing structure and topography in the landscape. A custom Japanese-style fence and a new color scheme completely change the character of the breezeway between house and garage. All was designed to be viewed from a generous new back porch deck.
